An established Brighton, Michigan estate planning and elder law firm is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Paralegal. In this position, you will work directly and independently with clients to create estate plans under the general direction of an attorney. You will obtain estate planning information from clients, prepare error-free estate planning documents from templates, write documents not covered by templates, fund trusts, file documents, schedule meetings, and follow up as necessary. You will manage your schedule so that all deadlines and requirements are met and that files are completed expeditiously. You will perform research using various Internet resources including the ICLE databases.
The selected candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience as an estate planning paralegal, with up-to-date knowledge of current estate planning philosophies and practices. He/she will have demonstrated the ability to work independently and effectively with clients and with other team members, will be self-directed and display initiative, will have excellent verbal and written communication skills. He/she will have demonstrated the ability to attend to detail to produce error-free work, on time, on a continual basis, and appropriately manage his/ her schedule to do this. He/ she will be comfortable in using computer programs such as Timeslips for timekeeping, Time Matters for case/ file and schedule management, Word and HotDocs for document preparation and assembly, and Excel for spreadsheets and calculations. He/ she will have extensive experience in Internet research on general and legal resources including ICLE. Knowledge and recent experience in Medicaid Planning is a plus.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
